08/01/2007 - Clumber Park Hotel Owners Launch First Phase Of “Significant” Upgrade
Clumber Park Hotel’s new owners are kicking off the New Year by beginning the first phase of a significant programme of improvements.
The first section of the 48-bedoomed three-star hotel to be upgraded is the ballroom, which will undergo a total transformation costing in the region of £265,000.
A new decked area will be created adjacent to the function room - which can hold weddings for up to 120 and lectures and conferences for 300 - as well as French windows being fitted to open onto this new outdoor feature.
This section of work is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Clumber Park co-owner Derek Macdonald said: “The work on the ballroom marks the first phase of the transformation of the Clumber Park Hotel. When we bought the hotel last October we promised we would invest significantly in it, and that’s exactly what we are now starting to do now.
“Clumber Park Hotel has fantastic potential and where as now it’s got three stars our ambition is to see it becoming a top destination hotel in the region.”
Mr Macdonald, a former Hilton and Champneys senior executive, added that later this month he was hoping to unveil plans which would “significantly” enhance the hotel and position it as one of the area’s top hotels, providing guests and visitors alike with services not currently offered.
“We do have very exciting plans for the hotel and we are planning to unveil the full extent of these later in the month, which will show the long-term commitment we have to taking Clumber Park Hotel into a new era.”
Clumber Park Hotel is situated opposite Clumber Park, on the A614, near Mansfield.
